Content Control
Content Control is a powerful feature that gives you precise control over how event information from external calendars is displayed on your embedded calendar. When you connect external calendars like Google Calendar, Outlook, Eventbrite, or Zoom, you may want to customize or hide certain event details before they're shown to your website visitors. Content Control allows you to manage the visibility of event fields and even replace original text with custom messaging that better fits your brand or audience.
Availability: Content Control is available on Business plans and higher.
How It Works
Content Control is available for each connected external calendar and can be accessed from the "Content" tab in the calendar settings. For each event field - including title, description, and location - you have three options: display the original text from the source calendar, hide the field entirely, or replace it with your own custom text. The title field can be customized but cannot be hidden, as it's essential for event identification.
This flexibility is particularly useful when you want to standardize messaging across different event sources, remove sensitive information, or provide simplified descriptions for your audience. For example, if you're pulling events from various departments' Google Calendars, you might want to replace generic titles with more descriptive ones, hide internal location codes, or add custom descriptions that include registration links. Event organizers using Eventbrite or Zoom integrations can use Content Control to streamline event details, removing redundant information while highlighting what matters most to their audience.
Using Content Control
To customize your external calendar content, navigate to the Connect page in your dashboard and find the calendar you want to modify. Click the settings icon (gear icon) to open the calendar settings, then select the "Content" tab to access Content Control options.
For each field (Title, Description, Location), use the dropdown menu to choose how you want to handle the content:
- Original text: Display the information exactly as it appears in the source calendar
- Hide: Remove this field entirely from the event display
- Custom text: Replace the original content with your own text
When you select "Custom text," a text field will appear where you can enter your replacement message. For descriptions, you'll have a larger text area to write longer custom content. Changes are reflected immediately in your calendar preview, allowing you to see exactly how events will appear to your visitors before publishing.
